School districts across Wisconsin are awaiting final approval from the state legislature to use federal funds awarded in the most recent round of COVID relief. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction is required to submit a plan for the funds to the Joint Finance Committee, which can either approve or deny the plan. As presented by DPI, a total of more than $5.5 million would go to the 11 school districts in Grant County. State DPI officials are also required to report to the U.S. Department of Education on use of these funds within six months. The federal money is designated to address learning loss among students affected by school closings due to the coronavirus pandemic.
