MADISON, Wis. — Many local Irish pubs had to find a safe way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year.
Mackesey’s Pub on State Street still held its annual celebration, serving Guinness Beef Stew over potatoes and cabbage, an Irish patty melt, reuben sandwiches and of course — Irish beer and whiskey.
“It’s a nice way for people to get together and share our traditions, and commiserating this year a little more than usually, but St. Patrick’s Day — it’s still a great day to be Irish, especially in Wisconsin,” said Jeff Mackesey.
The pub has outdoor seating as well as limited indoor seating for those still looking to celebrate the holiday.
