MADISON, Wis. — The Henry Vilas Zoo is getting a little bigger.
Three North American river otters were born Feb. 15 at the zoo, according to a news release Monday.
The three pups were named after rivers in Wisconsin: Lily, Montello and Fisher.
“A huge thank you goes out to our staff for keeping these otter pups healthy,” said Dane County Executive Joe Parisi. “We are proud of the Henry Vilas Zoo’s ongoing education and conservation efforts and look forward to seeing these newest residents grow up.”
Guests will have to wait until May to see the otter pups, as they are currently learning how to swim. Once they’re strong enough, they will be able to swim in the otter exhibit.
