AVOCA, Wis. — State authorities have identified the suspect in an ongoing Iowa County homicide investigation.
Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Justice identified the suspect Wednesday as 21-year-old Sean Pickett of Avoca. Pickett is accused of killing his 54-year-old mother, Susan Pickett, on Monday.
According to a news release, local law enforcement got a call Monday afternoon from Pickett reporting that his mother was dead. When crews responded to the scene they made contact with Pickett and found the victim deceased. Pickett was taken into custody shortly after law enforcement responded.
Pickett is expected to appear in court Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities said the incident was isolated and there is no threat to the public.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation with help from the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office and Village of Avoca Police Department. The DOJ’s investigation is ongoing.
