MADISON, Wis. — The Goodman Community Center is hosting two COVID-19 vaccination clinics this week in partnership with the African American Health Network.
Dr. Eva Vivian, president of the African American Health Network and a professor in the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy, will be at both clinics to answer questions and share information about vaccinations.
“We want everyone in the community to understand the benefits of getting this vaccination,” Dr. Vivian said. “I will be at each one of these clinics to answer questions and share information about the benefits and safety of the COVID vaccine. I encourage anyone who is hesitant to be vaccinated to stop by and learn more. No pressure to be vaccinated. I simply want to make sure everyone has the information they need to make an informed decision.”
The first of the clinics will run Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Goodman Center Brassworks Parking Lot located at 214 Waubesa St. The second clinic is scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Goodman Center Ironworks Building located at 149 Waubesa St.
Walk-ups are welcome, and the clinics are open to the general public. Appointments are encouraged for those who know they want to get vaccinated. Folks can make an appointment by calling 608-204-8018 during Goodman Center hours.
“I hope anyone who isn’t vaccinated will come out and learn more about this vaccine,” said Letesha Nelson, Goodman Center CEO. “Dane County has been doing a great job getting vaccinated, and we’re here to help those who may be a little hesitant to see that this vaccine will not only help our community, but will open new doors to those who are vaccinated to get back to normal faster.”
Those looking to get vaccinated will be able to pick between Pfizer’s two-dose vaccine and Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine. Anyone in need of their second Pfizer dose is welcome to get it at either clinic.
Snacks will be provided at the Wednesday clinic, and free lunches will be provided at the Saturday clinic.
