MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Tony Evers has ordered flags be flown at half-staff Tuesday in honor of a former State Representative Ann Hraychuck who died earlier this month.
Hraychuck died June 6 at the age of 69.
“By all accounts, Ann Hraychuck was a kind, compassionate, and dynamic person, deeply committed to her family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors,” Evers said. “Her loss will surely leave a hole in her community and in the hearts of those who knew her. On behalf of the state of Wisconsin, I offer my deepest condolences to her husband, David, her entire family and loved ones, and the Polk County community.”
Hraychuck was first elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2006. She was the first woman elected to represent the 28th Assembly District, and ultimately served two terms. Prior to her time in the Assembly, Hraychuck worked for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for 32 years and served as Polk County Sheriff from 2001 to 2006.
On top of her public service, Hraychuck was an “avid hunter and angler” and was the first woman to be elected as president of the Polk County Sportsmen’s Club.
A private memorial services for Hraychuck will be held Tuesday, June 22 in Balsam Lake. Evers’ order will be in effect from sunrise to sunset that day.
