MADISON, Wis. — Madison College hosted a drive-thru event Friday for those wanting to donate clothes and supplies to Afghan refugees at Fort McCoy.
The college is teaming up with Ho-Chunk Nation to deliver the supplies.
Organizers say the faculty staff and students, along with local families, have really stepped up.
One family donated 100 backpacks — and Diaper Bank of Wisconsin donated 4 pallets of diapers and baby supplies.
Organizers say the support is overwhelming.
“It’s humbling that all of these areas have come together for the good of our community,” said Nicole Soulier of Madison College. “Our mission here at Madison College is to provide accessible education and meet the evolving needs of our diverse communities. I’m glad we have support in doing that from our local partners across the district.”
Salvation Army of Dane County is also accepting donations for Afghan refugees. You can visit that location on Darbo Drive.
New items for refugees can also be donated at Goodwill locations.
They are asking for people to donate winter clothing, coats and shoes.
