MADISON, Wis. (WKBT) — Gov. Tony Evers ordered that the flags of the United States and the state of Wisconsin be flown at half-staff Thursday in honor of Chad P. Christiansen of Baraboo, a Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs security officer.
The 49-year-old Christiansen, who served at Volk Field Air National Guard Base died Saturday at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison from complications from COVID-19 contracted in the line of duty.
“Chad was a valued member of our Department of Military Affairs team and his loss is felt not only by his colleagues at Volk Field, but throughout the agency and state,” Evers said.
A memorial service for Christiansen, formerly of Charlotte, Iowa, will take place Thursday in Clinton, Iowa.
Executive Order #149 will be in effect from sunrise to sunset Thursday.
