OREGON, Wis. — A Dane County man accused of hitting and killing a runner south of Oregon last month pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges in the case.
Timothy Pritchett, 38, faces charges of hit and run involving death and homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle stemming from the June 7 crash that led to 30-year-old Logan Gueths’ death. A truck driver found Gueths’ body the following day near the intersection of County Highways MM and A.
Authorities arrested Pritchett in late June after identifying him as a potential suspect.
According to a criminal complaint, investigators found a part belonging to a Chevrolet Express van at the crash scene. Two days later, a detective went to Pritchett’s home in Brooklyn after the sheriff’s office got a tip about a vehicle matching the description of the van being parked at that address.
Pritchett told the detective he thought he hit a deer on Highway MM but did not see Gueths or a deer when he got out and searched the area, the complaint said.
Several detectives testified during a preliminary hearing Thursday morning. During the hearing, Pritchett was bound over for trial.
