MADISON, Wis. — Three 18-year-olds charged in a shooting on Madison’s southwest side earlier this month made their initial court appearances Thursday.
Jevante Koger and Damarion Pollard, of Madison, and Zanya Anderson, of Fitchburg, appeared in court Thursday afternoon. Koger faces a felony charge of attempted first-degree homicide as a party to a crime, while Pollard faces a felony charge of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of felony bail jumping. Anderson faces a felony charge of attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
In court Thursday, a commissioner set cash bond at $100,000 for Pollard and Anderson and $50,000 for Koger.
The charges stem from a shooting that injured a 22-year-old man near the intersection of Leland Drive and Balsam Road on Aug. 5.

According to a criminal complaint, the victim told police he was standing near the edge of a driveway of a home on Balsam Road when the trio got out of a gray SUV. He said Anderson and Pollard were holding guns and pointing them at him and identified Kroger as the driver.
When the victim saw Anderson and Pollard raise their guns, he ran. He reported hearing four or five shots and felt he had been shot in the buttocks.
According to the complaint, the victim said he had known Koger and Pollard for years and that Anderson would be around when he hung out with Pollard or Koger.
When asked about a possible motive, the victim told police he and Koger had some issues when they were both housed at the Lincoln Hills juvenile correctional facility in northern Wisconsin. The complaint said the victim reported he didn’t want to get involved in fights or gang activity at the facility, which Koger didn’t like.
Police said officers found multiple shell casings at the scene but no victim; according to the complaint, the victim showed up a short time later at Meriter Hospital and was taken by paramedics to UW Hospital for treatment.
