JANESVILLE, Wis. — Election officials in Rock County plan to hold a recount this weekend after two Republican candidates for Wisconsin’s 2nd Congressional District came out of the August primary with fewer than 100 votes separating them.
According to initial election results, Charity Barry lost to her opponent Erik Olsen by just 73 votes district-wide.

Barry filed a recount petition on Thursday in Rock County, where she lost to Olsen by 529 votes. The 2nd District covers all of Dane, Green, Iowa, Lafayette, and Sauk counties and part of Rock County.

Rock County Clerk Lisa Tollefson said in a media release that Rock County plans to hold its recount on Saturday at the Rock County Courthouse at 9 a.m. A total of 7,407 ballots were cast in Rock County in the 2nd District.
In an email sent to News 3 Now, Barry said the recount will be district-wide to encompass the other counties included in the 2nd District.
