DARLINGTON, Wis. — A new affordable housing option in Darlington will provide quality living options to a group of high importance in that area.
The Meadows is a 32-unit housing complex meant to provide housing options to people who work in the agriculture industry.
“Lafayette County has a huge agricultural economy,” said Nicole Solheim, the Vice President of Development with Cinnaire. “The agriculture industry supports over half the jobs in the county. Obviously, they need affordable, quality housing to support the workers that are working in those businesses.”
Cinnaire is a non-profit with offices around the Midwest. The group is helping develop the housing in Darlington, something Solheim says supports the non-profit’s mission of creating beneficial options for the communities it supports.
“Darlington has been very welcoming,” Cinnaire’s president Christopher Laurent said. “We had support from the mayor and the sheriff’s department early on, making sure that we’d have a wrap-around ready community for the residents of the development.”
Two and three-bedroom units are available and most rent for less than $1,000 per month.
“Our goal, along with our partners, is to provide quality housing so they can remain in the community and support these businesses,” Solheim said.
Solheim says Cinnaire worked with Southwest Wisconsin Community Action Program to help bring affordable, quality housing to the area.
