JJ Watt spent two seasons with the Badgers and was part of the 2010 team that was Big Ten co-champions. He was drafted by the Houston Texans in 2011, where he would go on to become a team legend, winning three Defensive Player of the Year Awards and helping the Texans to their first-ever playoff berth and first-ever playoff win.
It was in Houston where he and Ohai crossed paths. She was drafted by the Houston Dash of the NWSL in 2014, the first player ever drafted by the team. She became Dash captain in 2016, the same year she debuted for the U.S. Women’s National Team. She was traded to the Red Stars in 2020.
The couple was engaged in 2019 and married a year later.
