Dubuque city staff have selected the route for the community’s first bike lanes located on city streets. Dubuque City Council members this week got to see that the city intends to install a westbound bike lane downtown on 10th Street and an eastbound bike lane on Ninth Street. Those two bike lanes would connect via Bluff Street and via Elm Street near the Dubuque Intermodal Transportation Center. Dubuque City Council members also approved a grant application for the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Transportation Study’s transportation alternatives program. If awarded, it would pay for an extension of the Ninth Street bike lane eastward to its intersection with Pine Street and create another bike lane on 11th Street between the intersections of Elm Street and Pine Street.
