A Dubuque man who prosecutors said trafficked more than 300 pounds of crystal methamphetamine locally was sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison. 39 year old Jason Laufenberg was given a 135-month prison sentence in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids after pleading guilty in October to conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine and 50 grams of pure methamphetamine. A report says U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand also imposed a four-year term of supervised release following the prison term. A release states that evidence at his sentencing hearing showed that Laufenberg and co-conspirators trafficked more than 300 pounds of ice, or crystal, methamphetamine in the Dubuque area from 2019 to 2021. Each pound cost Laufenberg about $3,500.
