A man from New Glarus is dead following a UTV crash in Lafayette County. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call reporting a UTV crash with injuries on County Highway F, in the Town of Fayette around 7:30pm Sunday. Lafayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Darlington Fire and Lafayette County EMS were immediately dispatched. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources was also contacted and responded to the crash scene. The investigation of the UTV crash revealed that a UTV was traveling north on County Highway F, when the driver of the UTV lost control and left the roadway on the west side of the road down a steep embankment. Both occupants of the UTV 40 year old, Dustin Matzke and 44 year old Meghan Budish both of New Glarus, sustained very serious injuries. Budish was flown from the scene by UW Medflight to UW Hospital in Madison. Matzke was taken to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County where he was pronounced dead as the result of the injuries he suffered in the crash. Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Wardens have taken the primary role in the ongoing investigation of the crash, with the assistance of the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.
