Authorities say a motorcyclist led law enforcement on a high-speed chase through portions of Dubuque County last week. 19 year old Dean Nelson of Centralia was arrested Wednesday night in the 7600 block of Old Highway Road on a warrant charging felony eluding. According to a report, a Dubuque County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a motorcycle without a registration plate traveling west on U.S. Highway 20 near the intersection with Old Highway Road at approximately 3:27 a.m. May 30. The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the motorcyclist sped away, continuing to travel west on U.S. Highway 20. An officer with the Peosta Police Department recorded the motorcycle as traveling 116 mph in a 65-mph zone. Investigators eventually arrested Nelson shortly after his motorcycle was found on Almond Street.
