The Dubuque Police Department is warning residents of a phone scam circulating locally. Police department officials said in an online announcement that multiple community members have reported receiving phone calls from scammers claiming to be the police department or the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department. The scammers are telling residents they have a warrant for their arrest and must make payment immediately to satisfy the warrant. Police officials said the department is not calling residents to tell them they have a warrant, nor are they asking for payment information over the phone. Concerned residents can contact Lt. Luke Bock at 563-589-4473 or lbock@cityofdubuque.org.
