An East Dubuque police officer who recently was fired by the city is the subject of an investigation by Illinois State Police, according to city officials. City Manager Bob Seitz told the Telegraph Herald that Jake Peacock was fired on Aug. 27. Seitz confirmed that a state investigation is ongoing but declined to provide any additional information. Peacock had since 2021 served as the handler for the East Dubuque Police Department’s K-9, Odin. In an email to the TH, Seitz wrote that the dog currently is being cared for by a Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Department K-9 handler.
