Employees in Platteville are set to receive pay bumps as the city finalizes its 2025 budget. The city is increasing full-time employee pay 3% to account for cost-of-living increases, but 86 employees will receive slightly larger increases as a result of a plan the city adopted last year to bring its wages to market value. A 2023 study by Carlson Dettmann Consulting shows a majority of city jobs in Platteville were paid 18% below market value when compared to their counterparts in similarly-sized cities. The city’s new plan intends to remedy that incrementally by giving annual increases until the six-year mark, during which an employee is projected to make median market value. After reaching market value, the increases come every two years, per the plan.
