In Wisconsin, Lafayette County’s unemployment rate was 1.8% in September, the lowest in the state, according to the state’s Department of Workforce Development. The county’s unemployment rate was 1.9% in August and 2.1% in September 2023. Crawford County’s unemployment rate was 2.8% in September, up from 2.7% in August and down from 3.2% from a year ago. Grant County’s rate was 2.7%, down from 3.1% in August and 2.8% a year ago, and Iowa County’s rate was 2.1%, unchanged from August and down from 2.4% a year ago. Statewide, Wisconsin’s unemployment rate was 2.9% in September, unchanged from August and down from 3.4% a year ago.
In Illinois, Jo Daviess County’s unemployment rate was 4.1% in September, down from 4.4% in August but up from 3.8% a year earlier, according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Statewide, Illinois’ unemployment rate was 5% in September, down from 5.5% in August but up from 4.7% a year earlier.
