The iconic ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz are up for auction by Heritage Auctions for over $800,000, after being infamously stolen by a mobster and later recovered by the FBI thirteen years later. The current bid stands at $812,000, with the auction set to conclude on Dec. 7. The slippers were originally taken from the Judy Garland Museum in 2005 by ex-mobster Terry Jon Martin, who believed they contained real rubies. After their recovery in 2018, the FBI valued the slippers at $3.5 million. The shoes are described as a vintage pair of red silk faille heels hand-sequined with silk georgette and adorned with rhinestones and bugle beads. (Variety)
