On Monday around 5:46 AM, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a disturbance on Southwest Lane, in Platteville Township. The victim reported to law enforcement that she was physically assaulted by 50 year old Gerald Moon of Platteville. The Platteville Police Department and UW-Platteville Police Department were requested to assist the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at the scene. Moon left the residence on foot and entered a creek. Officer’s located Moon standing in waist high water. Moon was given several orders to exit the creek, which he failed to comply with. Due to Moon’s refusal to exit the creek, Officer’s deployed pepper spray toward Moon. Officers were eventually able to gain control of Moon’s arm and remove him from the creek. Moon refused to comply with Officer’s orders and resisted arrest. Moon was eventually secured in handcuffs and taken to the Grant County Jail. Case reports will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office with the recommendation that Moon will be charged with Battery, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, Strangulation or Suffocation, and Bail Jumping.
