An area man has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for threatening members of a construction crew with a firearm in Grant County. 27-year-old Dustin Updike of Platteville recently received the sentence in Grant County Circuit Court after pleading no contest to charges of operating a firearm while intoxicated, disorderly conduct, possession of THC and possession of a controlled substance. A plea of no contest means the defendant admits no wrongdoing but accepts a given punishment. A press release previously issued by the Platteville Police Department states officers responded July 17 to the intersection of Adams and Lancaster streets for reports of a person with a firearm threatening members of a construction crew. Responding officers located Updike in the yard of a nearby residence. He was no longer armed and was taken into custody without incident.
