Scooter operator injured in near collision with vehicle in Dubuque

Police said a man operating an electric scooter was injured in a near collision with a vehicle in Dubuque. 35-year-old Jonathan J. Soule of Dubuque, was transported by ambulance to MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, according to Dubuque police. A Dubuque Police Department crash report states that Soule was traveling west on Pennsylvania Avenue near the intersection with Green Street at approximately 1:40 p.m. Friday when a vehicle driven east on Pennsylvania by 73-year-old Raymond C. Rueckert of Asbury began to turn north onto Green, into the path of Soule’s scooter. Rueckert’s vehicle did not make contact with the scooter, but Soule hit the brakes and flipped over the scooter’s handlebars. Rueckert was cited with failure to yield upon making a left turn.
