The tri-state area recorded eight tornadoes in 2024, according to the National Weather Service. Four of the twisters were associated with a July 15 derecho. The other four struck a month earlier. Although the tornadoes caused varying amounts of damage, there were no injuries reported. This year’s local tornadoes include two EF 0’s on June 22nd in Tennyson and Belmont, and an EF2 in Argyle. In July, Kieler, Stockton, Woodbine, and Hanover all saw EF1 or EF2 tornadoes.
