On Tuesday night, the Dubuque City Council followed through on setting the maximum property tax levy for fiscal year 2026 at $10.06 per $1,000 of taxable value, a 1.38% increase over FY 2025. The increase, which had been first proposed earlier this month, amounts to a $33 increase in the bill for the average Dubuque homeowner and allows the city to raise about $29.9 million in property tax revenue. The decision to approve the new rate was unanimous.
