Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department warns of phone scam

Local residents have reported receiving calls and voicemails from someone purporting to be sheriff’s deputy named Adam Williams, according to a social media post by the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department. The calls and voicemails state that the resident has missed federal jury duty and must call a telephone number. There is no Adam Williams working for the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department the number residents are given to call is not associated with the local department.  A website associated with the calls, civilservicedivision.org, also is fraudulent.
