JUNEAU, Wis. — A Beaver Dam man pleaded guilty to first-degree intentional homicide for murdering his ex-wife last year, according to District Attorney Kurt Klomberg’s office.
On March 2019, 33-year-old Ulisses Medina Espinosa entered a residence in Beaver Dam as Stacia Hollinshead and the couple’s five-year-old child were visiting Medina’s parents. The man shot his ex-wife more than a dozen times and killed her.
Officials said Medina’s daughter saw the murder and shared extensive details with police regarding the shooting.
Under Wisconsin law, Medina must be sentenced to life but can seek release to community supervision after a certain amount of time set by the judge.
The sentencing agreement calls for the state’s recommendation to allow Medina to petition for release after serving 50 years in prison. He would be in his 80’s at that point.
A sentencing hearing for Medina has been scheduled for April 5, 2021 at 9 a.m.
