MADISON, Wis. — Nearly one-third of Wisconsinites have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Health Services.
As of Tuesday, 2,460,545 people have received at least one dose, which is 42.3% of the state’s population. Health officials said 1,855,145 residents have fully completed the vaccine series, or 31.9% of Wisconsin.
A total of 4,258,516 doses have been administered throughout the state, including 22,962 in the past day.
Public health officials in Dane County said those looking to get vaccinated at the Alliant Energy Center no longer need to schedule an appointment in advance.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also issued new outdoor mask guidance for people who are fully vaccinated.
Wisconsin reported 815 new cases of the virus, which more than doubles Monday’s case count. The seven-day rolling average has remained about the same at about 604. The state has reached an all-time total of 595,864 confirmed cases, with 8,852, or 1.5% of those cases still active.
The seven-day average percent positive by test went down slightly to 3.1%, according to DHS data.
Seventeen more people have died of coronavirus complications, a sharp rise after no deaths were reported the previous day. The statewide death toll is now at 6,773 as of Tuesday.
An additional 100 have been hospitalized within the past day, which roughly triples Monday’s hospitalizations.
