Students, staff and visitors at George Washington Middle School will be required to wear masks starting today, based on COVID-19 activity. Officials notified George Washington Middle School families and staff on Thursday afternoon that the number of active, positive cases at the school had exceeded 3% of students and staff at the building, crossing the threshold set by school board members to require masks. As of Thursday afternoon, there were 28 active cases at Washington, according to Dubuque Community Schools’ COVID-19 tracking dashboard. Twenty-three of those cases were among students, and five were among staff members.
