An area state park in Southwest Wisconsin will be opening an equestrian campground next week. Governor Dodge State Park in Dodgeville will open its equestrian campground on April 29th. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reports that the campground features 20 campsites, including 18 with electric hook-ups. Each campsite includes a high-line hitching post with cable, a picnic table, and fire ring. Improvements include easier access to maneuver horse trailers and campers. The campground and the park’s equestrian trails will be open seasonally from May 1st to November 15th. A report says the Friends of Governor Dodge State Park Equestrians group donated nearly $625,000 to support the project.
