DANE, Wisc. – The Dane County Breakfast on the Farm returned this year with the Haag family dairy farm hosting breakfast for the 11th year.
Laura Herschlab is one of the four people who work with the Dane County Dairy Promotion Committee to put on the event.
“We’re so excited to be back out at John and Julie Haag’s and their whole family’s dairy farm,” said Herschlab.
Herschlab says this year’s event marks 44 years of the Dane County Breakfast on the Farm. She added that 11 years ago to the day, the Haag family hosted breakfast for the first time on their farm.
“The Haag family has been so kind in opening their doors,” said Herschlab. “We’re just so excited to see so many people out here.”
June is recognized as National Dairy Month. However, Herschlab says the planning for this event is a year-long process.
“It’s a wonderful way to celebrate and promote Wisconsin’s dairy industry and celebrate June Dairy Month.”
Prior to the event, Herschlab said they expected nearly 5,000 people to attend Saturday’s annual breakfast.
“We have so many really wonderful volunteers that are making it all happen,” said Herschlab. “It takes many hands, but we’re grateful we have a wonderful morning to celebrate the hard work.”
Families who attended Saturday’s event were able to enjoy all sorts of breakfast foods with products straight from a Wisconsin dairy farm.
“I think people are really enjoying themselves and getting lots to eat,” said Herschlab. “There aren’t many other places where you can eat ice cream for breakfast and have it be encouraged.”
