A $1.5 million grant awarded to Dubuque Regional Airport could help usher in the return of daily commercial air service to a major travel hub. The federal Small Community Air Service Development Program grant will require a local match of $535,000, providing the Dubuque airport with a little more than $2 million to attract a new air carrier. City officials previously secured $775,000 from the grant program in 2020, with plans to use the funding to secure air service between Dubuque and Denver. However, airport officials later resubmitted their application in an effort to obtain additional funding.
