Man Crashes Into Cafe Due To Medical Issue

Police said a Dubuque man caused considerable damage to a Dubuque coffee shop and eatery Wednesday when he struck the building during a medical episode. 25 year old Matthew Bahl was taken to an area hospital for treatment of the medical issue that caused the crash but did not sustain any serious injuries. The incident happened at about 5:05 p.m. Wednesday in the 1700 block of Central Avenue. Bahl was traveling south on Central Avenue when he had a medical issue that caused him not to be able to navigate the turn. Bahl’s vehicle then struck the building that houses Devour Cafe damaging the building and shattering the cafe’s windows. The shop was unoccupied at the time of the crash, and Bahl was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
