Farley Man Sentenced For Breaking Into Middle School

A Dubuque County man has been sentenced to four years of probation for a burglary at Drexler Middle School in Farley. 19 year old Marcus Walker of Farley recently received a deferred judgment in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County from Iowa District Court Judge Thomas Bitter after pleading guilty to charges of third-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal mischief. With a deferred judgment, the record of the case will be expunged if all probation obligations are met. Walker was one of two people who broke into Drexler Middle School in Farley on July 30, 2023. Surveillance footage shows two people entering several classrooms and taking food and other items. 19 year old Derek Bailey of Hopkinton was also charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal mischief in the case and in January was sentenced to probation.
