Dubuque police say four people were injured Thursday in a three- vehicle crash. 56-year-old Debora Merkes and 54-year-old Vicki Kinney both of Dubuque; and 44-year-old Jason Reimer and 48-year-old Kevin Eggers both of Hazel Green all sustained minor injuries in the crash. Merkes and Kinney were transported by ambulance to MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center for treatment. Eggers and Reimer reported injuries but declined transport. The crash occurred around 4:15 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Central Avenue and Olympic Heights Road as Merkes, Kinney and Reimer each were traveling southbound on Central. Kinney stopped in the right lane to allow Reimer to pass on the left so she could turn left onto Olympic Heights. Merkes was traveling in the lane behind Kinney and failed to notice she had stopped, causing her to crash into the back of Kinney’s vehicle. The impact pushed Kinney’s car into the left lane, where it struck Reimer’s car in which Eggers was a passenger. Merkes was cited with failure to maintain control.
