Authorities say a man fired a gun into the ground in front of another man during a child custody exchange earlier this year in Dubuque. 21 year old Jacques Avery Jr. of East Dubuque was arrested Tuesday at the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center on warrants charging intimidation with a dangerous weapon, reckless use of a firearm and a probation violation. A report says that an Iowa State Trooper; an Asbury police officer; and five Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded on February 11 to an apartment complex on South John Deere Road for a report of shots fired. Deputies spoke to a resident of an apartment in the complex who said Avery and another individual had arrived for a child custody exchange. When told the children were not yet ready, Avery returned to his car. When the apartment resident returned, accompanied by her boyfriend, 21 year old Rayshaun Watson, Avery pulled a firearm from his waistband, pointed it at Watson and fired one round into the ground.
