About two months after an active shooter situation outside Mount Horeb Middle School, the Wisconsin Department of Justice has turned over a “vast majority” of its investigative files to the Dane County district attorney’s office for review. According to the DOJ, the DA has asked for additional items that the DOJ is working to hand over. The DOJ says their investigation should be wrapped up “soon.” Back on May 1, police shot and killed an armed student who they say was trying to get into the middle school. The student was not able to get inside. Police later learned the student was carrying a pellet gun. The Mount Horeb police officer who fired has not yet been named.
