Grant County Fire and EMS Departments have received a total of over $116,000 in federal grant funding through this year’s FEMA Assistance to Firefighters grant program. A breakdown of the funding includes;
Lancaster EMS receiving over $32,000 in federal funding to purchase a hydraulic power-assist cot.
The Bagley Fire Department will receive almost $32,000 in funding for a regional grant project which will train 30 responders throughout Southwest Wisconsin to the Swiftwater Rescue Technician level, and;
The Muscoda Fire Department will receive a grant totaling nearly $52,000 which will cover the costs of training volunteer EMS personnel throughout the region to the Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician-Basic, and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician levels.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is administered by FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program is to provide financial assistance directly to fire departments and EMS organizations to enhance local capabilities for firefighting and emergency response.
