A group of Dubuque County residents is calling for more transparency and “accountability” from Dubuque County officials they blame for the interception of more than $520,000 in federal money intended for the city of Dyersville for a 3,00- seat ballpark called, “This Is Iowa Ballpark.”During public comment at Monday’s Dubuque County Board of Supervisors meeting, several residents complained about how long investigations have taken into the theft of $524,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds. They insisted that the county could be more “transparent” about the roles of county officials and staff in the loss of the funds and said that those contributing to it should face consequences. Dubuque County Sheriff Joe Kennedy also provided an update on the criminal investigation into the funds interception, as he was already scheduled to do before the residents criticized the county during public input.
