A Dubuque man has been sentenced to two years of probation after police said he repeatedly locked his child in a room with unsanitary conditions. 29 year old Shawn Davis received the sentence in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to four counts of child endangerment. Davis also must serve 40 days in jail and faces the possibility of up to four years in jail if he violates his probation. A report says that police responded to Davis’ Dubuque home in October after receiving a report from the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services. During a prior visit, a social worker had been dispatched to the home and noticed several bedroom doors with exterior locks. Davis and his wife, Marie Davis used the rooms to lock their 5-year-old child away for extended periods of time, and in rooms covered in filth.
