The Platteville School Board decided to go to referendum in November to determine whether to exceed school district spending caps by $2.4 million. Increases in state aid haven’t kept up with increasing costs for the school district, creating a need for a referendum. Platteville School District Administrator Jim Boebel says the ballot in November will ask voters for a recurring referendum over three years at $800,000 each year. Increasing the revenue cap by referendum would increase local property taxes but would also increase state aid.
