As the campaign season heats up, so are thefts and vandalism of political yard signs. The Iowa Co. Sheriff’s Office is reporting multiple incidents of damage to political signs supporting both sides of the ticket. “Disturbing” and ‘unsettling” are a few words Dodgeville resident Belinda Anderson used to describe how she’s feeling after a Trump-Vance sign in her yard was spray painted over the weekend. The Anderson’s were out of town for the weekend and were greeted with a spray paint-covered sign when they returned home. Sunday morning, Terry Anderson called the police. Now with three weeks until the election, Iowa County Sheriff Michael Peterson says things are beginning to heat up. Sheriff Peterson says there has been an uptick in reports of vandalism and theft of political signs across Iowa County recently. The Anderson’s said they’ve decided to leave the spray painted sign up.
