If you haven’t gotten your flu or COVID-19 shot yet this season, Wisconsin health officials are urging people to do so ahead of holiday gatherings. Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported Wednesday that 22% of Wisconsinites have received a flu shot this year, and 11% got an updated COVID-19 shot. DHS noted this is the time of year that these respiratory viruses, including RSV, start to rise. DHS Immunization Program Manager Dr. Stephanie Schauer said if you haven’t gotten a vaccine, at least two weeks before a holiday gathering is the best time to get one. Thursday will mark two weeks out from Thanksgiving Day.
