Bob Uecker, who for decades served as the voice of the Milwaukee Brewers, has passed away at the age of 90. The Brewers announced his passing on Thursday. Uecker was born in Milwaukee and began his professional playing career in the city in 1962, back when the baseball team in town was the Braves. He went on to win a World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1964, but his impact on baseball was most felt after he left the playing field. In 1971, Uecker joined the Brewers’ radio broadcast team. During his 54 years of work, he became an unmistakable part of Milwaukee baseball and a staple of Wisconsin summer nights. Uecker also made an iconic appearance as the broadcaster for the Cleveland Indians in the Major League films. He was most known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He is a Ford C. Frick Award-winner, a National Radio Hall of Fame inductee and is a member of the Brewers’ Ring of Honor.
