A program encouraging Dubuque County residents to read a common book is focusing on mental health this year. Nine local libraries and the Dubuque County Disabilities Council are partnering on the third annual Dubuque County Reads program. This year’s book, “What My Bones Know” by Stephanie Foo, tells the story of the author’s experience with complex post-traumatic stress disorder. 10 locations will host book-discussion events between April 1 and April 14. Loras will also be the site of an April 10 event at which Foo presents her book and fields questions from attendees. On March 27 there will be a panel on trauma at University of Dubuque Heritage Center. Copies of the book are available to be borrowed or kept from all participating libraries. Readers can also purchase copies at River Lights Bookstore, and city of Dubuque resident card holders can borrow an eBook or downloadable audiobook from Carnegie-Stout.
