Southwestern school board recounts confirms result

A recount has confirmed the winner in the recent Southwestern Wisconsin School Board Area 1 race. Sara Bechen, the incumbent, received 629 votes to Jordan Pergande’s 628 votes in the April 1 election. Pergande requested a recount earlier this week. A meeting of the canvassing board of the Southwestern Wisconsin Community School District was held Thursday at the Village Hall Community Room. The committee requested all necessary materials from the Grant and Lafayette county clerks and counted all votes manually, district secretary DeeDee Smith said. The meeting adjourned with no changes to the tally.
