BURKE, Wis. — A truck caught fire and exploded on the interstate near Highway 51 late Friday morning.
Sun Prairie and Madison fire crews responded to the scene; Madison Fire Department spokesperson Cynthia Schuster said the Sun Prairie Fire Department is the lead agency.
Schuster added that crews were dispatched after local authorities got a report that a truck had crashed into the median while driving northbound on I-39/90/94.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s online traffic map shows backups all the way down to the Highway 151 interchange just east of East Towne Mall.
